Reconstrução e Conservação de Monumentos

The Collegium Minus in Cracow

The Kontrapunkt Team has prepared a conservation project for the facadeof the Jagiellonian University\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s Collegium Minus at Golebia Street 11. This building is permanently registered as part of the historical center ofCracow, having served as the seat of the mediaeval Collegium Minus as early as the 15th century. After Collegium Maius, it was the second oldest university college in the Latin European sphere. Earlier it had housed the oldest student dormitory, the Bursa Divitum, which is first mentioned in the sources in 1428. On the basis of archeological and architectural academic research, it has been established that the Collegium Minus is the product of a fusion of two gothic buildings. Over the years, the function of the building changed and this brought continual renovations. In 1910, a third floor was added, only to be removed during a major renovation in the 1960’s. A garret was built on the top floor and covered by a newly constructed roof. Also, the facade was adorned with a pseudo-gothic arcade frieze. The present form of the college took shape during this time.
